Why This Work Matters

“The machinery of addiction is the same whether the object is a substance or a behavior.”

After years treating addiction, Dr. Kim began seeing a new population emerge: young people whose lives were increasingly consumed by screens and families struggling to find help.

That experience ultimately led to the creation of Wondi and the development of the Wondi Agency Recovery Method (WARM™).

Approach

Clinical Philosophy

Eudaimonia

The Ancient Greek ideal of a life well-lived. Success is measured whether a person's life is flourishing.

Humanity

Treat the whole person and the family system around it, not just the behavior.

Compassion

Meeting the people without shame or blame. Medication never as a first reflex and always in service of restoring capacity to choose.

Frequently asked questions

Does Dr. Kim see patients?

Yes. Dr. Kim personally conducts the initial diagnostic evaluation and leads treatment within the Wondi program. Premium care means direct access to him, with no waitlist.

Does Dr. Kim prescribe medication?

Yes, when it is clinically appropriate. As a triple board-certified psychiatrist, Dr. Kim can manage medication directly within the program, always in service of restoring a person's capacity to choose rather than as a first reflex.

What conditions does Dr. Kim treat?

Dr. Kim specializes in behavioral digital addictions including gaming addiction, social media addiction, gambling disorder, and AI dependency, alongside the substance use and psychiatric conditions that often accompany them.

Do you treat anxiety, depression, and ADHD too?

Yes. These conditions frequently co-occur with behavioral addiction. Because the program is led by a psychiatrist, they can be diagnosed and treated directly within Wondi.

What is the WARM Method?

The Wondi Agency Recovery Method (WARM) is the structured treatment framework Dr. Kim developed. Rather than focusing on restriction, it works to restore a young person's agency: their capacity to choose their actions intentionally. You can read more on the WARM Method page.

The Situation Can Improve

Many parents come to us after months or years of arguments, failed restrictions, and growing concern about where things are heading.

The first step is understanding what’s driving the behavior and creating a plan that actually addresses it.
